Dear colleagues,
I have a quiestion about working with Australian clients and agencies.
I work online and provide translation services to various clients locally and overseas. I am willing to start working on the Australian market, but I heard that there are some extra requirements for translators there. If you have any experience in this regard, please share!

I wasn't asked for any Aug 16, 2011

Last summer I did a job for an Australian agency worth about 600 GBP (I am in the UK myself). They didn't impose any special requirements, and paid in good time.

My Experience Aug 16, 2011

I have a very good client in Australia but they require NAATI certification so basically I get proofreading jobs from them and from time to time translation jobs where NAATI certification is not needed.

It depends Aug 16, 2011

You do not need an accreditation as a Hebrew-Russian translator but they will definitely prefer accreditation for English-Russian translations (NAATI). You can sit a test in Europe.
Btw, Australian market is relatively small, much smaller than one would expect.

yes, NAATI

I would agree the Australian market is tiny compared to Europe (esp. UK) and North America (USA)...
