As we sense the translation of a text should convey the meaning of the source in letter and spirit.

For which there are many rules are framed.

They are grammatical rules, syntactical rules, morphological rules and localization rules.

Translations are classified in to many forms, and a few are a) loose translation, word for word translation, trans-creation, Translation and so on.

In this scinario, many omit the concept of "Active Preference" and "Passive preference" of a particular language.

For short: I can convey that the English Language is a "Passive Preference Language" where us the Tamil language is an "Active Preference" Language.

This means, most of the context are conveyed in "Passive Voice", that is, for example:
1. you will be gifted with a child.
2. You will be appointed as the Head of this institution
3. You will be promoted to a senior level
4. They will be honored with flowers
5. She will be married
6. I was gifted
7. I had been gifted with a car.

But in Tamil language, as it is an "Active Preference" Language, it is normally conveyed in the following Manner; This is what we call as localization, that is conveying the meaning in the local langue and in the local format.

1. உனக்கு குழந்தை வரம் கிடைக்கும் (நீ ஒரு குழந்தை பெற்று ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவாய்)
2. உன்னை இந்த நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவராக நியமிப்பார்கள் (நீ இந்த நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவராக நியமிக்கப்படுவாய்)
3. உன்னை உயர் நிலைக்கு பதவி உயர்த்துவார்கள் (நீ உயர் நிலைக்குப் பதவி உயர்த்தப்படுவார்)
4. அவர்களுக்கு மலர்த்தூவி மரியாதை செய்வார்கள் (அவர்கள் மலர்களைக் கொண்டு மரியாதையளிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.
5. அவளுக்குத் திருமணமாகி விடும் (அவள் திருமணமாக்கப்படுவாள்)
6. நான் வரம் பெற்றவனாயிருந்தேன் (நான் வரம் பெறப்பட்டிருந்தேன்)
7. எனக்கு ஒரு கார் இருக்குமளவுக்கு வரம்பெற்று வாழ்ந்திருந்தேன் (நான் ஒரு கார் கொண்டு ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தேன்)

Both active and passive voices may give the same meaning, but the preference of a language is a most critical part of a translation, in particular, when a language is Localized, it would be appropriate to consider the "Active or Passive" preference of a language.
