I don't know who "Mike" is. Why is he popping up like this?

And yet he tells he won't be back before monday at 1.00 PM!

Ah yes- thanks for reminding me. I had turned off my blocker for some other reason and had forgotten to reinstate it. Annoying thing gone.

I have an ad blocker - two, in fact - in place, but neither detected this, on the homepage, though, not the forum section. However, it disappeared as soon as I refreshed the page. Which makes one wonder, how useful can a 'disappearing chat box' be, especially one whose contact is not available if/when needed, as already pointed out by Christel?

... you can complain here about members, who quickly post an insult, just to erase it in the next minute, so that it is no longer visible for the public and therefore no breach against the site rules? I would call it the "Teacher button" then.

Agree. I haven’t even noticed it. If I did, I certainly wouldn’t be opening threads about it. The bottom of my screen is usually hidden behind my rather tall ergonomic keyboard stand.
All this means that if I have a question, I can ask it in just one click. What’s so wrong about this?! It’s simpler than 20 steps involved in sending a support ticket. Plus, this chat box may also be addressed at clients and their inquiries, not just translators.

Perhaps others, and especially clients unfamiliar with the site layout, may find it useful.

In which way does it waste your time? It does only (and still...) if you pay attention to it. Here it just sits there and has never bothered me (unless Mike gets bored and starts asking about the weather in my place, if I'm happily married, etc.). Maybe one day it does become useful if I have to ask Proz questions.
