I kid ye not.
On a summer holiday to deepest Galway county, three decades ago nearly, we stopped an oul' boy and asked for 'the best way to get to such-and-such'...."Well, I wouldn't start from here if I were you." he replied, without a hint of irony.
In fact, if you'd asked him what irony was, he would have replied that it was similar to goldy and bronzy.
And speaking of daft things...did you hear the one about the Irish lamppost?

Many years ago during the military dictatorship, when the economic situation was really bad, one of the admirals promised that the government was going to make a 360 º turn in order to improve things.
