Hi,
Can you please suggest a good value-for-money QA tool as an extra pair of eyes for use with Trados and/or Transit NXT?
Thanks in advance!

XBench, but with GOOD REFERENCE FILES!! | Oct 14, 2010 |
We receive XBench reports from a number of customers, and in so many cases we have to lose time explaining false positives caused by incorrect reference lists/term lists in our language pairs.
If you use XBench, make sure you prepare good and accurate reference lists, and listen to the translator when it comes to adding more terms to accommodate correct grammar and spelling without generating useless false positives! | | | | Michael Beijer Suurbritannia Local time: 11:52 Liige hollandi - inglise + ... CheckMate (Okapi Framework) | Oct 14, 2010 |
Apparently, the Okapi Framework's (new) "CheckMate" is also a QA tool.
Also free.

Some of the verifications performed are:
Repeated words
Corrupted characters
Patterns in the source text that should correspond to a given pattern in the translation.
Inline codes differences.
Translation suspiciously longer or shorter than the source.
Missing translation.
Leading and trailing spaces.
And more...
You can disabled warnings that happen to be incorrect, so the next time you re-run the verification those warnings remain disabled. You can also save your session and come back to it later.
In addition to the interactive list of warnings, the tool can generate complete reports of the issues found.
CheckMate allows you to integrate directly the verifications done by the open-source LanguageTool checker, which offers a wide range of simple and complex checks for many languages.
You can work with any bilingual or multilingual file format supported by the Okapi filters, for example: XLIFF, TMX, PO, TS, TTX, etc."

This looks very interesting. I'm going to give it a try later today.

Thanks to everyone for your info. It's always interesting to hear the opinions of others, particulary when an investment is being considered.
I haven't made up my mind yet, as I would like to try one or two demo/trial versions - particularly for ErrorSpy which is favoured by one of my customers.
Thanks again and a nice weekend to all!
