I don´t know... Jun 22, 2007

I can´t really know because it depends on the project I am working on. Nowadays this is not a problem for me because I work exclusively for an agency, so they ask me how much time do I have before assigning me another project.
Best,
Fernando

Since 1-2 years I am working much more for European Agencys, so I can make some plans. If I find more serious Agencys in Europe and let the turkish Agencys behind me maybe I may plan for one week

No "calm" weeks for freelancers Jun 22, 2007

I found this when I used to work with doctors as secrecrary and receptionist.

This always happened:Whenever I dared to say: "I think this seems to be a calm week, isn't it, Doctor?", I found new patients complaining at the waiting room. At that moment, this annoyed me

Now, again...talking about translations: a new project - a big one - is waiting for my answer in my spam-overloaded mailbox.

Now, again...talking about translations: a new project - a big one - is waiting for my answer in my spam-overloaded mailbox.

So, in spite of the obvious difference between patiens and translations, I keep on using it as my lucky phrase, because today I do love my job.

And it really works.

1 week Jun 22, 2007

I'm generally fully booked for the forthcoming 3-5 working days, and as I mainly do fairly short jobs (average about 2,000 words, but varying from 100 to 5000) most clients can't accept a longer deadline than a week or 10 days maximum. Right now, I've got bigger jobs lined up until mid-September, but they won't fill in all of my time so I can still fit in most of my normal stuff.

Three days or so Jun 23, 2007

I usually have one or two long-term jobs running, and then fill in additional time with short-term jobs that are usually scheduled about three days into the future.

It depends Jun 23, 2007

Sometimes, when I'm translating a book (as I am now), my schedule is planned for one to three months ahead (although I still try to squeeze in a few small jobs from time to time, so that my other clients don't feel totally fotgotten ). But generally I know what I'll be doing in the next 2-7 days.

2-3 days Jun 23, 2007

My real answer would be about 2-3 days, as I notice others have mentioned in this discussion, but I put one day in the survey as the only other nearest option was 1 week.
