Many things May 28, 2007

Actually, a lot of things, so I didn' answer this poll.

PS: Since I do not have one since I started working as a translator, I chose "Social life".

Social life May 28, 2007

It would be great if we could rank all the items that affect us.

Au

My list would be:

Social life
Other aspects of business (invoices, etc)
Your health (well, mine)
Your hobbies/interests
Family life
The quality of your work

ps: what is housework?... See more

All of them... Needed a ranking! May 28, 2007

Definitely not just one, but I could rank them:

1. Social life : completely dissappears
2. Hobbies and interests
3. Hosework (always a good reason to procrastinate!!)
4. Family life (try to avoid having it suffer, but it does...)

Quality of work does not suffer!!! (What would be the point, then?)

neither does invoicing and stuff like that, but taxes and filing do (though that is my natural state, really, just like housework...

Housework May 28, 2007

But since I don't like to clean up, it's something I give up cheerfully.
My husband is very understanding. He has to study on his side, so he's busy too.

everything on the list, really May 28, 2007

A busy week means:

- no social life at all (once again, I'm recluse of the week)
- not helping the kids with homework, which might actually improve their grades...
- fewer walks with the dog (and she hates that!)
- no gym for me (and I hate that!)
- not helping my wife with housework (and she hates that!)

Hey, don't busy weeks sound a lot of fun?...

Many of the items on the list! May 28, 2007

Most of the items on the list suffer when panic rears its ugly head!

1. Absolutely NO social life
2. Family life kind of finds a way of getting in the... way of work ["are you coming to eat with us, or what?"]
3. Fewer walks with the dog
4. Hobbies? What are hobbies?

...and so on!

All of the above! May 28, 2007

I've had one of those months and as a result I've been ill, have a messy house, and haven't been able to go to the gym!

Don't ask me, Au May 28, 2007

Of course, the answer is (almost) all of the above; but I do take the time, at least twice a week, to fix a nice meal and then snuggle down with my husband to watch a movie together. That's what keeps me sane enough to translate without loss of quality. My pride may occasionally allow me to miss a deadline (ouch! I can feel the condemnation pounding down upon my head!) but it never allows me to submit poor work.

My pride, however, doesn't extend to the state of my house...

Jane

Everything, but health most May 28, 2007

... as it is not a particularly healthy habit to stay up all night, as well as work non-stop all day, for a week... kind of leaves you feeling a bit strange afterwards for a day or two, and also, since the biscuit tin is empty by the end of the week, which is also not healthy, well... wonder how many years we will be able to keep it up for.
