Source text - English SYNOPSIS #2 – ‘TERMITES!’
Hugh Farnham just wants to remodel his old Victorian. When he invites the exterminator over to take care of a termite problem, he is told that the tiny pests are the world’s number one generators of methane gas. Hugh becomes convinced that with some genetic tinkering, he can engineer wood-gobbling bugs that off-gas hydrogen instead of methane, thus freeing the word from the tyranny of Big Oil. Hugh happily envisions a world clogged with hydrogen-powered vehicles. He is overjoyed at the possibilities.
However, ecstasy soon turns to obsession as he spends countless hours immersed in the world of termites. He begins gnawing on wood and develops an irrational fear of tents. His friends and business associates shun his company. Alone in his underground lab, he perseveres, using XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Server to aid his mapping of the termite genome. Moments after sprouting antennae, his humanity almost lost, Hugh at last makes his breakthrough. Oil barons are ruined, the world economy is revived and Hugh Farnham emerges a hero for the ages.
SYNOPSIS #3 – ‘ROBOTS, INCORPORATED’ VER. 2
When Harry Xxxx and Kumar Xxxxx meet, they seem unlikely partners. Harry, a heavy metal-loving former Marine who remains true to his trailer park roots, is a world apart from the terminally clean-cut immigrant from New Delhi. What the two mechanical engineers share, however, is a genius for creating artificial life. ROBOTS, INCORPORATED tracks the adventures of this odd but brilliant pair as they struggle to produce the world’s first mass-market android assistants. Unable to attract angel investors, Kumar and Harry are about to give up their dream. But the two mad scientists are urged onward by the sudden appearance of the Obi-Wan-like ghost presence of Bill Gates, whom Kumar idolizes and often quotes. Thus aided by their “spirit guide,” they blaze an irreverent and untraditional path to success.

Hugh Farnham n'a pour tout projet que la rénovation de sa vieille demeure victorienne. Au cours du traitement anti-termites des lieux, le technicien lui apprend que ces minuscules bestioles sont le premier producteur mondial de méthane. Hugh est alors convaincu que quelques manipulations génétiques permettraient de créer de gourmands insectes xylophages, qui produiraient non plus du méthane, mais de l'hydrogène et délivreraient ainsi le monde de la dictature pétrolière. Hugh imagine déjà un monde merveilleux où fourmillent des véhicules à hydrogène. Les possibilités lui font tourner la tête.
Mais bientôt l'enthousiasme vire à l'obsession et Hugh ne compte plus les heures passées en immersion dans le monde des termites. Il se met à broyer du bois et développe une phobie des bâches de protection. Ses amis et collègues préfèrent l'éviter. Seul au fond de son labo, il persévère et utilise le Serveur XXXXXXXXX XXXpour faciliter le séquençage du génome des termites. Quelques secondes après l'apparition de ses antennes, tout juste humain encore, Hugh fait enfin une découverte clé. Les rois du pétrole sont ruinés, l'économie mondiale prend un nouvel essor et Hugh Farnham devient un héro de légende.

À première vue, Harry Galt et Kumar Mallya ne sont pas faits pour s'entendre. Source text - English At the United Nations Millennium Review Summit, September 14-16, 2005, world leaders will meet in New York to discuss the future of the United Nations, global collective security, and relations between rich and poor. This meeting will mark five years since the largest-ever gathering of Heads of State and Government adopted the Millennium Declaration. This year, the world’s political leaders are called upon to take decisions that will determine whether or not they can fulfill the vision of the Millennium Declaration: “to ensure that globalization becomes a positive force for all the world’s people…based on our common humanity.” At the centre of this vision are the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). They embody specific targets and timelines for achieving many of the objectives of the Declaration: to alleviate worldwide poverty, hunger, and disease; to globalize human rights, the equality of women, and environmental protection; and to create fair rules of trade, increase development assistance, and put an end to unsustainable debt. These can only be achieved through a new Global Partnership for Development, “a development compact,” in which rich join poor to fulfill the promises. In short, leaders must come to share a common sense of human security in all its dimensions, for the whole inhabited earth. There is a need for new horizons of action and new thinking about and beyond the goals set in 2000.
