Bio

I entered the translation industry in 2007 after studying computer linguistics and Estonian language at the University of Tartu. What originally attracted me to translation was the combination of language, technology and problem-solving—three things I have always enjoyed.

Throughout my career, I have worked on projects ranging from software and online platforms to industrial equipment, finance, healthcare and marketing. I particularly enjoy assignments that require research and learning, whether that means understanding how a new technology works, reading about a medical topic or getting familiar with a client's industry.

My background in computer linguistics has also given me opportunities to participate in language technology projects, including spellchecker development and machine translation testing. At the same time, I still enjoy the human side of language work: finding the right wording, adapting content to the target audience and making complex information easy to understand.

Outside translation, I am active as a trainer and mentor. I teach first aid, psychosocial support and communication skills, and I am currently studying adult education at Tallinn University. These activities have taught me a great deal about how people process information, learn new concepts and respond to different communication styles.

After almost two decades in the profession, I still find it rewarding that every project offers a chance to learn something new.
