Nigun can be a specific melody (but not 'tune', which is 'mangina', sometimes loosely 'lakhan'), but only in specific liturgical contexts. In a general context, it is more abstract and general than 'a tune' or 'a particular melody'. It is closer to 'melody' as a general musical idea.
