Joint venture agreement - Spain
From a joint venture agreement from Spain, into U.S. English.
In the "Retribución de préstamo" section discussing compensation/payment for a "préstamo participativo" provided by a company.
The previous sections basically say that the company will be entitled to a certain percentage of sales once the land purchased has been developed.
At the end of the section it says:
"Estas retribuciones se podrán calcular y liquidar en pagos parciales que **coincidirán a los efectos de valoración con fases de la promoción**, con acuerdo de las partes y dependiendo de las necesidades de tesorería."
I'm assuming this should be read as if "a los efectos de valoración" were set off with commas.
"Valorar" is also used in the previous paragraph: "En cuanto a trasteros se valorará el XX% de los que resulten de la parcela A y el XX% de los que se pongan a la venta en la parcela B."
I've thought of "assess(ment)" (in the sense of "appraisal") for valorar/valoración...

Comment: "Thank you; this was my initial hunch and what I ended up using, although I do believe here there's also a strong case for using "calculation". In any event, the day after I delivered this translation, the client sent me a revised/updated version of the source text for me to update the translation the day, with a note under this subsection saying it was unclear and needed to be completely reworked. So, to my relief, at least it wasn't just me struggling..."

an appraisal in accordance to
Equivale a: con el fin de ponerles un precio, de tasarlos, de valorarlos.
¨They may be an appraisal in accordance to the promotional phases/stages...¨
I think you may use ¨appraise¨ as a verb or ¨appraisal¨ as an adjective in most of the cases you have ¨valorar.¨

We know - from precedents - all about mispunctuated sober or liquid-lunching Spanish streams of consciousness, don't we?
No harm sticking in, namely closing off with, commas and dashes to make reading easier on the English-blinking eye.

Discussion
I suppose, on reflection, that definition 2 could be construed as "calculate"; just before the last sentence I quoted they also use "cómputo" to mean "calculation" (en el cómputo total de ventas...).
