Englisch term

profit costs

Englisch > Deutsch Rechts- und Patentwesen Recht (allgemein)
In a statement of costs in a claim for compensation (UK):

Profit costs: £xx
VAT: £xx
Conditional Fee Agreement: £xx
Premium: £xx
Disbursements: £xx

As far as I know, the profit costs are the charges the solicitor invoices the client for work he has done himself with the aim of making a profit.

Any idea how to say in German. Gewinnkosten?

Discussion

ukaiser (X) May 5, 2009:
Sonja Allen (asker) May 5, 2009:
Uwe/Werner Erfolgshonorar is the "conditional fee agreement" which is also mentioned and the text is written by a legal firm in the UK and doesn't strike me as particularly unenglish. The profit costs are, as far as I know, one of the costs of which the client has to pay a percentage in case he wins the claim. So they have to do with the "Erfolgshonorar" but are not the "Erfolgshonorar" itself.
Werner Hehn May 5, 2009:
"Loss of profit" All of the answers/suggestions given so far could be correct. However, as this concerns a claim for compensation, please make sure this does not refer to a "cost" for loss of profit. The rest of your text quoted is "not very English" so I think you may be translating a translation into English.
ukaiser (X) May 4, 2009:

Unkosten

a bit of an odd expression, those "profit costs". If it is meant to be the same as expenses i.e. reduction of profits due to outlays, I'd go for the straight meaning.

Hi Sonja,
I just found this definition:

Note from asker:
I think your translation refers more to the "disbursements". On the internet I found the following definition to differentiate between profit costs and disbursements: The traditional view of the distinction between profit costs and disbursements is that profit costs covers work done by a solicitor whereas disbursements are payments actually made by the solicitor in the conduct of litigation (court fees, expert fees and the like). (see http://www.lcnltd.co.uk/news/PILJ%20Article%20Aug%202006%20-%20Agency%20Fees.pdf)
