(1) KudoZ term search improvements made; more underway

The KudoZ term search feature provides a way to search the KudoZ archive of millions of specialized terms. The feature has been improved this month in the following ways:
* Results are sorted more effectively, with more relevant search results being pushed closer to the top.
* It is possible to specify subject-matter fields more effectively.
* Layout of the page has been improved.

Further work is now underway to increase the number of results for searches (by converting more of the terms in the database to Unicode.) Also, changes will be made to improve the effectiveness of the search feature for Russian, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese and Turkish. Announcing a celebration of ProZ.com's 10th anniversary: the site's sixth international conference, to be held from July 2-5, 2009 in Ohrid, Macedonia (FYROM).

Announced last year, the ProZ.com Certified PRO program exists "to identify qualified translators working in various language pairs, and provide them with the option of networking and collaborating in an environment consisting entirely of screened professionals."
The Certified PRO program is being conducted as a service to paying members of ProZ.com; there are no fees associated with applying to or joining the program.

Screening is ongoing, and now just over 1600 members have successfully completed the application process. The application process, including a process for evaluating translation samples, was further systematized this month.

Per quanto riguarda la ricerca su Internet dobbiamo sfruttare meglio le ricerche avanzate dei motori di ricerca e automatizzare il più possibile determinati passaggi (selezione del sito, ricerca, apertura di un altro sito ecc.), per quanto riguarda la ricerca nei documenti salvati sul proprio computer, invece, la difficoltà è data dal fatto che le informazioni sono contenute in file di tipo diverso (Word, pdf, memorie, email ecc.) e se i documenti sono tanti la ricerca può richiedere troppo tempo. Il workshop si articola in una parte introduttiva con presentazione delle strategie di ricerca e delle applicazioni che si possono utilizzare, e da una seconda parte con esercitazioni pratiche.
