Supposedly dowloaded the trial version of Wordfast but it shows up nowhere Thread poster: writeaway

I just supposedly downloaded the trial version and according to the cheerful message it was successful. I also downloaded the manual. However even after rebooting and bringing up Windows (97) and my doc. again, there is no trace of the program anywhere on the computer, including Word. I have deleted all downloaded files (out of total disgust) and am very relieved I didn't buy before trying. But would like to know what went wrong in case I decide to give CAT another go in a few years. | | | Jerzy Czopik Germany Local time: 12:52 Member (2003) Polish to German + ... What you downloaded is a zip-archive. After clicking on "Download" link on www.wordfast.net you should select a location on your PC, where the file shall be saved (so choose "Save as" or similar, when downloading). Then you are suspected to unzip the files in a defined directory and to follow this instructions: = = = Wordfast Installation procedure = = = Preparing Microsoft Word for installation: Start Microsoft Word. Use the "Tools/Macros" menu. A. If there is a "Security" sub-menu, set security to "low". B. If there is a "Trusted sources" pane, go there and check the "Trust the Visual Basic project" checkbox. Installation: 1. Do not double-click wordfast.dot to open it. Start Microsoft Word. 2. From Microsoft Word, use the File/Open menu to open wordfast.dot as if it were a regular Word document. Note: you may have to select the "All files" option in the list of "File types" when opening, otherwise wordfast.dot (the extension is .DOT) may not be visible. (if Ms-Word warns you there are macros when opening wordfast.dot, click the "Enable macros" button) 3. Follow the instructions written in wordfast.dot. - - - - - - - If the automatic installation procedure fails, download the English manual, go to the "Installation" section, which shows two other installation procedures. Note: wordfast.DOT is the program. The manual is wordfast.DOC and can be downloaded from www.wordfast.net Note: some antivirus programs put all DOT files (which contain macros) under tight control, and even interfere with their activity. If you see frequent "Requesting virus scan" messages or hectic behaviour, try to temporarily disable Word macro verification in your antivirus program to see if the problem disappears. consult the English manual's "troubleshooting" section for further information. The correct procedure is: - you download the file wf_422.zip to your computer - remember to what folder you download the file - unpack the file into the repsective folder, and read the file ReadMe.txt - it includes instructions on how to install Wf in Word It is not enough to just download the file, you have to unpack it and install the template according to the instructions. Copy the File Wordfast.dot from the zip-folder into the startup-folder of Word. Then start Word and you shuold see a new toolbar with a green point in it. Sometimes the automatic installation methods do not work. But first of all read the first few pages of the manual. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Supposedly dowloaded the trial version of Wordfast but it shows up nowhere Trados Business Manager Lite | Create customer quotes and invoices from within Trados Studio
