Some postings call for direct contact. Why??

Nowadays, some postings fly around Proz, saying \"direct offer to email address\" or \"offers on Proz unacceptable\" why??

This obviously refers to job offers posted where the outsourcer explicitly excludes the posting of bids via ProZ.com. While there is some criticism regarding this, note that this is in line with ProZ.com site rules:

One of the reason why outsourcers sometimes indicate their preference in rather clear (albeit less diplomatic) terms is that sometimes bidders simply don\'t read the posting in sufficient detail...



Where moderators usually draw the line is where the job posted is obviously not genuine, as was the case yesterday (or was it the day before) when someone posted a \"job\" that was only designed to earn some clicks on a rather \"spammy\" site, but wasn\'t even reachable through the email address specified. If you suspect something along these lines, please contact the moderator for the language pair concerned, or one of the coordinators identified on the moderators\' list. TIA!

There is somehing that still needs explanation. In some specific language pairs (like Tur-Eng), one sees many professionals (platinum!).

Then, may I be right to think that everybody may be a Platinum member when they pay USD 120.

May it be the reason of such postings \"no offer through Proz\"?

Actually, there might be several good reasons for this Apr 2, 2003

I sometimes outsource jobs myself thru ProZ and prefer people to contact me in private -especially when larger & more difficult jobs are concerned- because this way I can better manage the replies and allocate CV\'s etc to specific folders immediately.



We also shouldn\'t forget that once an outsourcer closes a job, all information disappears.
