Hello, Spanish translators--
My favorite book of all time is the powerful Puerto Rican anthropological study "La Vida", by Oscar Lewis. In this book, the Rios family was intensively studied for several years; they lived in a slum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where life was wild and crazy--and full of off-color language.

It would be fun to know the rest of the song lyrics---and even more fun someday to obtain a copy of this naughty little song!

I am not Puerto Rican but I have lived here most of my life and this is my second country of which I am proud and feel very strongly about. The lyrics from this other song are much more representative of Puerto Rico and its people and the love they feel for their beloved island. I hope you enjoy them better than El Regalito.

Any country is a mix of its people--good and bad, rich and poor, educated and uneducated--and clean and naughty! "La Vida" was a study of a single family only--but in spite of the roughness present in the book, I grew to love the people that Oscar Lewis interviewed; in addition, this book sparked my interest in one day visiting Puerto Rico. You are a rich woman indeed to have this lovely nation as part of your heritage!

Thanks for your kind words. I took no offense in your posting. However, for Puerto Ricans, Mr. Lewis' work is equivalent to a four-letter word and a defamatory and stereotypical presentation of their society.
