This is such sad news.
Nicole's ability to blend her marketing tradecraft, professional language skills and passion was brilliant.
As Cilian says; "we enjoyed many a respectful battle". Mostly, I recall, involving the difference between EN/UK and EN/US.
Like Birgit, I remember some fascinating, entertaining and very pleasant discussion with Nicole at that delightful summer 2007 meeting in Berlin, which was also attended by Johanna.

This is the first thing I read this morning and although I only 'knew' Nicole from her posts here in the forum and her invaluable contributions to KudoZ it makes me very sad to know that she will no longer be here to take a stand for our profession. It is clear that she made an impression on many of us around the globe and certainly will be remembered for a long time. As long as she is not forgotten she won't be gone completely.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this piece of news. I've always enjoyed her invaluable contributions (and vividly remember our conversations back in 2007 at the Berlin powwow, just like Birgit and Chris).

Back when I was a new translator I admired Nicole most for her precise and sharp contributions. She had such a sharp mind and stood out. I will miss her dearly. My condolences to her family and friends.

As many others here I am very sad to hear about her loss.
Her posts here were always helpful - not only when I was just starting out. When I then first met her at the Berlin powwow already mentioned by some others, I was highly impressed by her personality and attitude. What a shame we didn't have the chance to meet another time.
You will be dearly missed, Nicole. It was a pleasure and honour to know you.

My deepest condolences to Nicole's family and friends.
Like many, I only knew Nicole from her posts here on Proz. She had a special way of putting our thoughts into words and that is why so many of us are shocked to hear that she will no longer be contributing with her wit.
