It is no secret that today, ranking well on Google is essential for businesses to be found by potential clients. Translators and LSPs are no exceptions to this, with their websites or blogs.

In the past couple years, Google has made a lot of changes to the way it works and ranks websites. The icing on the cake was the Hummingbird update, released in August 2013. Google only announced it in October 2013 and said it was the biggest change in their search engine technology in the past 15 years. It was also the quietest! Many websites – maybe yours as well – saw a drop in their ranking in the last semester of 2013 and many are still struggling to get it back.

SEO has changed a lot in the past months. A lot of the old techniques are now actually penalized by Google. Basically: forget (almost) everything you know about SEO. The latest updates were deep game-changers.
