Great Presentation! Jan 24, 2012

Thank you Laura! It was both exciting and helpful to see the big picture -- literally -- of what we're contributing to. Already thinking about LA MINUTE! Keep us posted ...

A great powwow Jan 29, 2012

One of the great advantages of our profession is its internationality, hence 'bring a dish' type powwows are great occasions to taste diverse things. One of the great advantages of our profession is its internationality, hence 'bring a dish' type powwows are great occasions to taste diverse things. Francis and Noriko brought some marvelous sushi and maki, Leslie a very tasty guacamole and a magnificent quiche, Phoebe some superb poundcake, Will a gigantic portion of delicious charcuterie, Delphine and Michel a brilliant apple tart, Cynthia a big plate of yummy cheese, Marion a rocking potato salad, Francois a lovely roquefort and nut tart, Laura a fabulous pesto lasagne, and Fred and Pauline some fantastic biscuits. For the next powwow, where three times more people show up with equally breathtaking dishes, I will have to buy the unabridged Oxford English Dictionary to find all the appropriate adjectives. And of course there was some good wine - which is quite inevitable around Bordeaux.

This powwow was not just international but also inter-hemispherical, with Will traveling all the way from his native New Zealand. Other long-distance travelers were Laura and Phoebe, coming from Paris.

It was also a first in-person gathering of the Solidarités team, with a special guest from Solidarités International, Laura, who coordinated the Paris-based NGO's translation requests for our team during the past months. Laura held a very interesting 40-miute presentation about the NGO's work as well as our collaboration. There was another, unexpected presentation, when Marion found a piano somewhere, and played it beautifully, to our great delight.

Pictures are available here: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9.

So photogenic Feb 4, 2012

Thanks Attila for taking time to write this "report" and to post photos of our little gathering. Don't we all/and the food look gorgeous.
Until next time...

C.
