Source text - English Pakistan Textile Industry is the largest manufacturing industry in Pakistan, contributing 8.5% to the GDP. It is a major contributor to the national economy in terms of exports (generates about 56 % of the total exports) and employment (provides employment to about 40 % of the industrial labor force). Pakistan holds the distinction of being the 4th largest producer of cotton worldwide, 8th largest exporter of textile products in Asia with the third largest spinning capacity in Asia by contributing 5% to the global spinning capacity after China and India. Textile industry sector in Pakistan includes 1,221 ginning units, 442 spinning units, 124 large spinning units and 425 small units which produce textile products, the chain also include - finishing, made ups, garments, towel and hosieries.
