Without an option 'all or most of the above' this poll doesn't mean much. I do most of those things (apart from proz 'trainings').

I always try to translate all sorts of subjects, and while looking for references, glossaries to find terminology, proofreading translations made by other colleagues, then I learn new things and feel that this is my way to keep up-to-date.

I try to do most of the things described in the poll. I assist to conferences, seminars, courses to keep my knowledge up-to-date. From my point of view, it is very important to dedicate part of our time to studying since things change all the time and we need to bear that in mind.

I included forums under the heading of reading.
I'd love to do on line courses, but by the time I've finished working 8+ hours in front of the computer my eyes are too tired to spend more time looking at the screen and I need to get up and move around.

All of the above, whenever I get a chance; but the best thing is being around other translators (physically and online). After I finished my M.A. in translation I felt isolated, since I live far away from any metropolitan area where translators (and clients!) abound. Now I'm back at the university, teaching translation, and thus have weekly contact with other translators. It has made a world of difference!

Hi everyone!
As freelance translator and PM, I'm always translating, editing (DTP work), and correcting/revising other translators' work.
This keeps me updated, as it makes me research, specially when I'm not used to certain fields or subjects.
Furthermore, I'm studing to get my degree as an Speciallized Proofreader in Spanish.
I read about my own language, rules that have recently changed.

Anyway, except for on-line courses, I do all the other things mentioned in the poll.

I read The Linguist and KOM (the magazine for the Union of Communication and Language Professionals Denmark ) and check out the Danish Language Council website now and then.
... and occasionally books reviewed on the Language Professionals' website, or books reviewed in the press.

I read a lot in both languages. In addition, I constantly try to keep updated with new developments, especially in those areas I constantly translate.
I also talk to colleagues about new developmens in technical fields.
I am constantly browsing magazines, books, journals to keep informed in fields I teach at the University: Computer science, preeschool teaching, ESL teaching.
Whenever possible, I attend seminars or crash courses.

We're all busy but I think we need to take time. Working may keep us on our toes but we need time for, well, call it "research and observation".

For polls like this one questions like this one it should be possible to select multiple options. Otherwise the outcome is really useless.
