Again - I have a lot of stuff in One Drive - mostly translation reference files and they are just sitting there, and have been for many years now. They are not synced with anything. I just use One Drive as cloud storage.
A Q&D fix is to rename folders that you want One Drive to leave alone. It will lose the path.
As to Memoq - you need to assign Memoq to look for your projects elsewhere (in other folders). But here I can't help you because I only use Memoq at work and other people do these things for me :-/

Grothe

Hello,
I am desperately trying to get my 2nd license reactivated and I cannot do so because RWS is sending me through rabbit holes galore without letting me log into my account via their link "activation support" or similar. I am in my account via Trados itself but that does not help me because my license and download page shows incorrectly that my 2nd license is not available and there is no activation code and there is no possibility (because RWS refuses my login) to get an offline code.
Before reinstalling Trados because it gave a fatal error all the time with none of the fixes working, I had to deactivate this 2nd license. Now I reinstalled and I just want to use it as usual with my Translator plus license -- there is no possibility to contact RWS via email apparently.
Does anyone know what to do?
Many thanks!
Spamalot

Off topic | Trusted Tips for u4gm Delta Force Items

Forum: Off topic
Topic: Trusted Tips for u4gm Delta Force Items
Poster: Rita Williams

Delta Force rewards the player who stays calm when a run gets messy. You don't need a streamer's aim on day one, and you definitely don't need to copy somebody else's expensive kit. Start with a setup you can afford to lose, then build knowledge round by round. A few sensible Delta Force Items can help with preparation, but the real gains come from knowing why you died and changing one habit at a time.

Settle Your Controls First

1. Keep one sensitivity for several sessions before changing it.

2. Put healing, grenades, and your map on keys you can reach fast.

Learn Without Burning Your Stash

Easy matches aren't something to be embarrassed about. They're where you learn the awkward bits that get people killed later: reload timing, sound cues, extraction routes, and when loot isn't worth carrying. Take a cheap rifle, basic armour, enough healing, and ammo you've actually tested. Then repeat a route. Do it again. You'll notice where players tend to cut across open ground and which rooms become traps. Normal difficulty feels far less random once those details are familiar. A flashy build may win one fight, sure, but a reliable low-cost loadout gives you more chances to practise.

Read the Map Before Chasing Loot

Space City can punish tunnel vision. You might find a great item, hear footsteps nearby, and suddenly forget the two exits behind you. That's usually when the run ends.

Match Your Kit to the Risk

Ammo matters more than many beginners expect. Weak rounds can make a solid weapon feel useless against decent protection, while a balanced ammo choice gives budget guns a real chance. Don't just inspect damage numbers and call it done. Think about range, recoil, magazines, and how often you can replace the gear after a bad raid. The comparison below is the kind of quick check worth making before you queue.

Match type	Suggested approach	Main priority
Easy mode	Low-cost rifle and spare healing	Routes and extraction
Normal mode	Better ammo with a tested weapon	Position and sound
High-risk run	Purpose-built kit for one objective	Fast decisions

Make the First Decision Count

When contact starts, hesitation creates worse problems than an imperfect call. If you're pushing, push with a reason: a reload sound, a broken angle, a teammate covering you. If you're leaving, leave properly. Don't back up three steps, stop in the doorway, then peek the same sightline again. Reposition, heal, listen, and force the other player to guess. You'll lose some fights anyway. That's normal. The useful question after each loss is simple: was it aim, information, positioning, or gear?

Use Operators With a Clear Job

1. Pick Luna when you want scouting tools and flexible pressure.

2. Pick another operator if their utility suits your regular squad role.

Build Progression Around What You Actually Play

It's tempting to save every valuable piece of gear forever, especially after a lucky run. Don't let your stash become a museum. Use equipment when it supports a plan, not because you're nervous about losing it. Keep a few repeatable builds ready, review your ammo before deployment, and spend time in maps where you still need answers. If you want extra options while preparing those kits, browsing Delta Force Items for sale may fit your approach, but steady practice is what makes those purchases count.

I can't lose any files there.
I think that's not quite correct. Your files are stored in the "Documents" folder (if that's where you store them) and One Drive syncs that folder.
While this is how it works on some computers, on most computers OneDrive behaves differently. It creates a folder named "OneDrive" and then it creates subfolders e.g. "Documents" and then it moves your files from the original default "Documents" folder into its own OneDrive/Documents folder. If you delete those files or folders, you are deleting your actual files. You also can't simply copy or move the files back to the original empty Documents folder, because it affects things like file linking. Also, Windows now considers the OneDrive/Documents folder to be your new default Documents folder, which is why programs like MemoQ does that too.
When you stop syncing your files, you can start copying / moving them as you see fit.
This may be true on systems where OneDrive did not create a OneDrive/'Documents" etc. folder, but YMMV on systems where OneDrive create a OneDrive folder with subfolders.
Another thing - not syncing doesn't prevent me from using One Drive as passive storage space - I just copy stuff there and it sits there as long as I need.
It is true that one can use OneDrive as passive storage, but the usual way OneDrive works doesn't just do passive storage: it provides syncing. If you have successfully figured out how to use OneDrive's passive storage, then you can e.g. delete files from the cloud without affecting the files on your computer. But if your OneDrive is set up to do syncing, deleting a file in the cloud will also cause it to be deleted on your computer.
Exactly. memoQ is storing any new projects to "Documents" but for some reason that "Documents" folder is located inside "OneDrive" and I don't know how to remove this path.
Also, when I check "Location" in memoQ, some projects are still stored in "Documents" (which is not within OneDrive) and some projects are stored in "Documents" within OneDrive. I believe this is because I quickly turned off syncing when I noticed, but when I try to move a project that is stored in "Documents" not within OneDrive, memoQ says "memoQ cannot open this project because the files no longer exist in their original location.".....

There still are professions where real people are badly needed and where being bilingual is, if not a requirement, certainly a huge advantage. I don't know what's exactly the situation in Brazil, but if you start looking with an open mind you'll find them.

As Michele Fauble said, decades ago translating was a great job - especially when you're lucky to be in high demand in your 'local market'. Hardly likely to happen NOW with your language pair - unless you are extremely lucky to find some very specialised niche market. The operative word being 'extremely lucky' ...

Only being realistic.
Forum: MemoQ support
Topic: OneDrive and memoQ issue
Poster: espoir03
Post title: Dear PAS
PAS wrote:

"my most important files are currently stored in OneDrive my document folder"

I think that's not quite correct. Your files are stored in the "Documents" folder (if that's where you store them) and One Drive syncs that folder. If you stop One Drive from syncing this folder (and any others), it will throw a tantrum, but the files in the "Documents" folder and on One Drive will remain intact. Do not delete anything (yet). When you stop syncing your files, you can start copying / moving them as you see fit.

FWIW, I have never kept any documents, work files, images etc. on the same drive as my system (i.e. C:). Always on a separate physical drive, if only possible. This greatly simplifies system reinstalls.

Another thing - not syncing doesn't prevent me from using One Drive as passive storage space - I just copy stuff there and it sits there as long as I need.
Thank you for your comment. I hope that's not quite correct too, but unfortunately, when I check "location" in memoQ, ANY new project I create is automatically stored in "C->User->OneDrive->Document->My memoQ project" and everything goes through OneDrive, not to the "Documents" directly.

In the settings remove all folders it "backs up" / syncs.
Then turn one drive off, make sure it doesn't turn on automatically on startup etc.

Then you should be able to safely organize your files as you see fit.

As to removing all links to One Drive - saving new documents etc. - I'm afraid it's a manual tedious process. MS is pretty aggressive about using their stuff - every time Edge updates it insists on becoming the default browser etc.
Thank you for the reply.
I believe I stopped OneDrive from syncing already. In my computer, OneDrive says "not signed in" and every time I turn on my computer, it never sign in or start syncing, so I think that is already solved.
I believe, my biggest problem is, although OneDrive is no longer synced, for some reason, a lot of files are still in OneDrive and I don't know how to revert everything.

And since OneDrive is a sync system and not a backup system (despite the language used by Microsoft in their marketing material), deleting your files in the cloud will cause them to be deleted on your computer as well.

To get rid of the OneDrive folder tree and return everything to how it was before, here is a video that appears to show the ]same advice as what a Microsoft representative had once given:

It claims to get rid of the OneDrive folder and return all your files back to their original locations.

Leo Notenboom's advice is usually accurate:

However, Leo's advice retains the OneDrive folder tree.

[Edited at 2026-07-21 07:39 GMT]
Thank you very much. I just started to watch the first video.
I can't click "Sync and back up" because mine is greyed out and unclickable.
When I click MyDrive icon on toolbar, it says "not signed in"
Should I sign in first?
Forum: Business issues
Topic: AI Translations Are More Dangerous Than You Think. A $3 million dollar mistake
Poster: Jeff Whittaker

"So, I was this close to a $3 million dollar mistake the other day because we needed this contract for a company we're working on in Europe and we needed the thing to be in German. So, to save a bit of time and legal fees, honestly, like I took this older client contract that we had in English, sent it to ChatGPT, put it in the smartest mode possible, got a translation, sent it to our German lawyer for review. Whoa. And boy, was that a mistake."

"Well, not only did our lawyer find dozens of critical errors, loopholes, completely erased liability protections, he revealed an even bigger problem. There are horror, expensive stories about this stuff. Some companies have had to pay millions of dollars due to translation discrepancies just because they used AI. "

Link to full video:

Another extract from the video: "The story is this founder called XXXXXX XXXXXX who was facing a securities fraud charge. Now, before he was indicted, he dumped a bunch of sensitive financial information into Claude to brainstorm some legal defense strategies and then sent those AI outputs to his lawyers. Anyway, during the trial, the judge ordered those documents to be considered for the case. And in his defense, he claimed that these documents were protected by attorney-client privilege. But the federal judge said absolutely not. The moment you paste confidential information into a consumer AI chatbot, which has its own terms of service, often times using your data to train their models, well, you destroy your expectation of privacy. You're basically legally waving your privilege. Even an AI tool that may advertise itself as not being trained on your data, if that company gets subpoenaed, they would be absolutely compelled to relay those documents."

[Edited at 2026-07-24 21:35 GMT]
