I’ve got Master’s Degree in English Philology and started my career as an interpreter
and a translator at enterprises with foreign investments (sewing industry; automotive
industry). For over 12 years I've been working as a freelance translator/proofreader
(I’m registered as a self-employed entrepreneur under the Ukrainian law).
During this time, I’ve been working in more than 30 different subject areas.

Working as a translator/a proofreader, I brought together some copybook maxims and used
them as a basis for a simple yet efficient formula of a good translation, which I follow. It is

C+P+N+T= ER, where

C is for Competent – thorough study of the translation subject (browsing the Internet, consulting
different resources, gaining good understanding of the matter);

P is for Precise – keeping as close to the source text as possible (not adding or omitting anything,
keeping the original style and purpose);

N is for Natural – making the target text sound natural, appealing to the reader (readers should not feel
they read a translation);

T is for Timely – keeping deadlines (delivering translations in time); and

ER means Excellent Result – a high-quality final product and a customer satisfaction.

I’m sure that only the sum of all the above mentioned components results in a high-quality
translation and a long-term customer satisfaction.
