Embora exista forte tradição cinematográfica nos países árabes, a manutenção das produções e, principalmente, as distribuições dos filmes experimentavam dificuldades. Foi nesse contexto que o Instituto do Mundo Arabe de Paris iniciou uma série de atividades de cinema em 1988, com o objetivo de buscar as novas produções do Mundo Árabe, que enfrentam enormes desafios para ultrapassar o cerco das produções européias e dos EUA. Less is more
Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe adopted the motto “Less is more” to describe his aesthetic tactic to create an image of extreme simplicity, by arranging the numerous necessary component of a building and enlisting every element and detail in order to serve multiple visual and functional purposes. Clearing the way into a whole new era of architectural design which is still seen as modern even today.

Industrial designer Dieter Rams took “Less is more” to another level: “Less but better”. He believed that good design is as little design as possible, focusing on purity and simplicity and concentrating on the essential aspects, not burdening the products with inessentials. So why not simply stick to that instead of disturbing an essentially good design with inessentials? Who needs visible doorframes for example? Under-cover enables you to simply delete them from the design without compromising on quality and materials, understanding that hi-end design should not only translate into form, but also into function. To us, that’s the true art of less. We believe we’ve come a long way since William Blake first mentioned those doors of perception we started off with. Now imagine the things you could do.

1- وضع القلة في المنظور
"اذا نظفت ابواب الادراك ، سيظهر للإنسان كل شيء كما هو ، لا نهائي". هذا ما كتبه المؤلف المشهور وليام بليك منذ اكثر من قرنين . وهو ما يتعلق بالقلة دائماً: تخطيط الأشياء حتى ملامحها الأساسية بدون الإزعاج غير الضروري. ترك مساحة اكبر من كافية للتصور مثل القماش الفارغ للرسام والورقة البيضاء للمهندس المعماري. خذ ايحاء اصحاب القلة الحقيقيين.

تبنى المهندس المعماري لودويج ميز فان دير روهي شعار "الأقل هو الأكثر" لوصف تكتيكه الجمالي لخلق صورة للبساطة المتناهية بترتيب المكونات اللازمة المتعددة للبناء وادراج كل عنصر وتفصيل لخدمة الأغراض الوظيفية والبصرية المتعددة. توضيح الطريقة في العهد الجديد للتصميم المعماري الذي لا يزال ينظر اليه كأنه حديث حتى اليوم.
3- ديتر رامس
أقل لكن أفضل
أخذ المصمم الصناعي ديتر رامس "الأقل هو الأكثر" الى مستوى آخر "اقل لكن أفضل". وقد اعتقد ان التصميم الجيد هو تصميم صغير بقدر الإمكان، مع التركيز على الصفاء والبساطة والنواحي الجوهرية، مع عدم ارهاق المنتجات بالأشياء غير الضرورية وغني عن القول ان الكثيرين قد اتبعوا هذا منذ ذلك الحين.
4- ريتشارد بكمينستر فولر
عمل الأكثر بالأقل
تبنى المبتكر بكمينستر فولر هدف المهندس "عمل الأكثر بالأقل" . وضع التقنية والهندسة امام الجمالية. لن تغير الأشياء بمحاربة الواقعية الموجودة . من اجل تغيير شيء ما، عليك ان تبني طرازاً جديداً يجعل الطراز الحالي مهجوراً. وهو ما احتفظ به بنجاح لعقود وعقود.
5- جوناثان ايف
الأستثنائي الأقل، الأكثر قبولاً
كان لدى رئيس تصميم المنتج لحاسوب أبل، جوناثان ايف هدف واحد فقط عند تطوير آيماك الأصلي: صنع حاسوب اكثر تطوراً" اقل استثناء واكثر قبولاً" وهو ما يمثله بالضبط كل منتجات أبل اليو م، وخاصة IPOD المتطور. واذا ذهبنا وراء عمله الأساس، وافهمت نفسك فوراً نواحي طبيعته المادية: إنني استطيع ان المسه،احركه، ليس ضعيفا للإستعمال الحقيقي.

اذن،عندما تعلم ان المظلة المناسبة هي واحدة من الضرورات القليلة التي تحسن نوعية الحياة، فما هو الأقل الذي تحتاج إليه لانشاء بيت يبدي شكله الاساسي كما هو؟ جدران، نوافذ، أبواب، سطح، هذا كل ما في الامر. وبهذه العناصر الأربعة تحصل بحق على مأوى جميل، ان هذا غير معقد. لذا، لم لا تلتزم ببساطة بهذاK بدلاً من تشويه التصميم الجيد بالأشياء غير الضرورية. من يحتاج الى هياكل ابواب مرئية مثلاً ؟ الاستتار يمكنك من الغائها من التصميم بدون التساهل بشأن الجودة والمواد، مدركاً أن التصميم البارع لا يترجم في الشكل فقط بل في الوظيفة ايضا. بالنسبة لنا، هذا هو فن الأقل. نعتقد أننا قد قطعنا شوطاً منذ ان ذكر وليام بليك من قبل ابواب الادراك تلك التي بدأنا بها. تصور الآن الأشياء التي يمكنك عملها .
