Does regaining your health require you to take a therapy with substances included on the doping list? A therapeutic use exemption with prohibited substances may be granted to an athlete, provided no other therapy is available. For this, an application to the relevant TUE Committee must be made using the official form which you can download at our campus. The application should be submitted at least 3 weeks before the first application of the requested substance. Only athletes belonging to test pools are subject to deliver such applications before commencing their treatment, whereas this is voluntary for all other athletes. Athletes subject to a doping control requirement are required to inform their treating physician or their pharmacist as to their sports activities. They should also confirm beforehand whether these professionals are aware of the antidoping provisions. In case of doubt as to any specific therapy, these medical experts should obtain information from the National Antidoping Organization about any specific treatment. It is possible that in an emergency, a prohibited substance must be administered to an athlete, because otherwise health complications may arise. In this case, the athlete can apply for a belated TUE….

Since the 1970s, we have witnessed a burgeoning of child-custody disputes unparalleled in history. This increase has primarily been the result of two recent developments in the realm of child-custody litigation, namely, the replacement of the tender-years presumption with the best-interests-of-the-child presumption and the increasing popularity of the joint-custodial concept. The assumption was made that mothers, by virtue of the fact that they are female, are intrinsically superior to men as child rearers. Accordingly, the father had to provide to the court compelling evidence of serious maternal deficiencies before the court would even consider assigning primary custodial status to the father. Under its replacement, the best-interests-of-the-child presumption, the courts were instructed to ignore gender in custodial considerations and evaluate only parenting capacity, especially factors that related to the best interests of the child. This change resulted in a burgeoning of custody litigation as fathers now found themselves with a greater opportunity to gain primary custodial status.
In association with this burgeoning of child-custody litigation, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the frequency of a disorder rarely seen previously, a disorder that I refer to as the parental alienation syndrome (PAS). In this disorder we see not only programming ("brainwashing") of the child by one parent to denigrate the other parent, but self-created contributions by the child in support of the alienating parent's campaign of denigration against the alienated parent. Because of the child's contribution I did not consider the terms brainwashing, programming, or other equivalent words to be applicable. Accordingly, in 1985, I introduced the term parental alienation syndrome to cover the combination of these two contributing factors (Gardner, 1985a, 1987b).

У зв’язку з цим зростанням кількості тяжб через опікунство над дитиною, ми зіштовхнулися з різким почастішанням появи психічного розладу, який рідко зустрічався до того, - розладу, який я називаю синдромом відчуження від батьків (СВБ). Цей психічний розлад характеризується не тільки програмуванням («промиванням свідомості») дитини одним з батьків з метою очорнити іншого, але й внеском самої дитини на підтримку кампанії наклепу того, хто зацікавлений у відчуженні, проти іншого. Через факт втручання самої дитини я вирішив, що такі терміни, як "промивання свідомості", "програмування" або інші синоніми підійдуть не найкраще. Тому, у 1985 році я запровадив термін синдром відчуження від батьків (СВБ) для того, щоб охопити поєднання цих двох факторів (Гарднер, 1985а, 1987b).
