A snapshot...

I was born in Rome and educated in Italy, Spain and England. I hold a BA (Hons.) in Italian and Spanish - translation specialism, an MA in Psychoanalysis and Contemporary Society and a PhD in Psychology. My research interests include neuropsychoanalysis, Lacanian theory, music and emotion.

My employment experience has spanned the fields of financial and leisure publishing, direct marketing and venture capital consultancy, all of which involved a strong information technology element.

Since embarking on my career as a freelance translator almost twenty years ago, I have carried out translation assignments in many different areas, including technical, literary and business texts. However, my main specialist fields currently include the following: science and technology, psychoanalysis / psychology / psychiatry, clinical drug trials, technical manuals, mechanical engineering, machine tools, plant and equipment, contracts, tenders, business, music and equestrian.

I have published several articles on language and translation, as well as papers dealing with neuropsychoanalysis, music and emotion. My translations of operating and user manuals have been published for distribution with typesetting systems, vapour recovery systems and laser imaging systems, to name but a few. My numerous translations of background notes and synopses have been published for distribution with video recordings of operas and classical music concerts.

In addition to my membership of translator associations in the UK (MITI Eng<>It, CIoL), USA (ATA certified Eng>It, Sp>Eng) and Canada (ATIO, CTTIC Eng<>It, Fr>Eng, Sp>Eng), I am also a member of the Society of Authors and its Translators' Association in the United Kingdom, the International Society for Neuro-Psychoanalysis and the American Psychological Association.

My language combinations are the following: Italian<>English (British, American, Canadian); Spanish and French>English. I also provide a localization service from American English to British English.
