I don't see any reason to stick so close to the original, this means the same thing, and sounds like English, not Spanish.

Having read the dcomment below, I would change my answer to: In the middle of the rivers course.
Or, this one, which I like because it is much more desriptive, and less likely to be misunderstood:
"Mid-way between the river's source and where it meets/flows into the sea"

neutral moken : I don't think it is the same. Curso medio refers to the stretch that is neither close to the source of the river nor the estuary. To my ears, "in the middle" sounds like "equidistant from its banks". Perhaps I'm wrong? :O)
