3m national teaching fellowships
premios a la excelencia docente/excelencia en la enseñanza

Explanation:
Si se refiere al premio que otorga la STLHE, no es necesariamente una beca. Es un premio a la excelencia docente.

In 1986, the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and 3M Canada partnered to recognize exceptional contributions to teaching and learning in Canadian post-secondary education. The community of 3M National Teaching Fellows embodies the highest ideals of teaching excellence and scholarship with a commitment to encourage and support the educational experience of every learner.
Up to ten Fellowships are selected annually.
Canada now has over 300 3M National Teaching Fellows, representing a broad range of academic disciplines from more than 80 small and large Canadian post-secondary institutions. The Fellows support teaching and learning at their own institutions and through larger, collaborative initiatives, supported by the Council of 3M Fellows and the STLHE.

The 3M National Teaching Fellowship is unique. Fellows receive no tangible rewards, no money or research grants. Instead, they are given a lifetime membership in STLHE and a four-day study retreat together in November. They also join a vibrant and energetic Fellowship of over 300 dedicated and inspiring leaders and teachers who have helped shape university education in Canada for almost three decades.

Around the same time period, John Myser, the president of 3M Canada, had had a vision about creating an award for teachers in higher education that would be what he referred to as the “Stanley Cup” of teaching (Roy & Knapper, 2013). He first approached faculty from Western to develop the award and later broadened that request to include other members of STLHE. This prestigious national award, the STLHE 3M National Teaching Fellowship, was established in 1985 in conjunction with 3M Canada with the first Fellows being selected in 1986—not surprisingly Western faculty were among the first cohort of 3M National Teaching Fellows (3MNTF) including Jim Erskine (Ivey) and Eileen Gillese (Law). Later in the 1980s Peter Rosati (Engineering) and Paul Sills (Dentistry) would join this growing group of faculty who would be recognized Canada-wide as truly outstanding teachers.
