Read-across is a technique for data-gap filling where endpoint information from one chemical is used to predict the same endpoint for another chemical which is considered to be similar in some important aspect relating to that endpoint, e.g. mode of action, toxicokinetics, metabolism etc. Read-across may be for a qualitative or quantitative result.
Read-across can be performed in the following ways to fill data gaps:
 One-to-one (one analogue used to make an estimation for a single chemical);
 One-to-many (one analogue used to make estimations for two or more chemicals);
 Many-to-one (two or more analogues used to make an estimation for a single chemical);
 Many-to-many (two or more analogues used to make estimations for two or more chemicals
