Kontext: In the manufacturing process of screens with specific three-dimensional indentations, spray etching of copper is an essential step. This is done in a double-closed and extracted bath with a CrO3 solution of 140-240 g/L (i.e. ca. 73-125 g Cr(VI)/L) and at 60°C. The spray etching bath consists of two compartments.
In the inner compartment, the screen is turning and spray-etched from one side.
At the bottom of the inner compartment, the bath liquid is present, which is directed to the spray nozzles via a closed system.
The screen does not touch the bath liquid. Sprayed droplets fall in the bath liquid.
The inner compartment is covered with a hood. There is slight negative pressure in the inner compartment, to avoid mist/vapour from being directed to the outside of the inner compartment. Then there is an extracted second compartment, which is covering the closed inner compartment.
