Newspapers are a lot less objective than they used to be, and quite often their stories have right wing or left wing bias.

There clearly is an implied comparison with a media outlet that was previously mentioned in the text.

As I see it, the problem with using “bias” in the translation is that it implies a value judgment that is not present in the original. Perhaps this is splitting hairs, but I don’t think so....

“Conservative” would also be more commonly used than “right-wing” in such contexts - at least in the US.
